Laboratory Compliance Program Effectiveness
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General’s Compliance Program Guidance for Clinical Laboratories, “An effective compliance program should incorporate periodic (at least annual) reviews of whether the program's compliance elements have been satisfied.” Compliance programs in the healthcare industry were largely instituted beginning in the 1990s.  Since this time, risk areas have evolved. To remain effective, compliance programs must respond to these changing risks.

The compliance program’s design, implementation and review are important factors in determining continuing effectiveness. Trusent Solutions provides independent Compliance Program Effectiveness services for clinical laboratories. Our approach includes determining best practices relating to all of the key elements of a compliance program including:

  • Infrastructure and Reporting Relationships
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Education and Training
  • Lines of Communication
  • Monitoring (including Risk Assessment practices) and Auditing
  • Enforcement and Discipline
  • Investigation, Response and Prevention

Our deliverable consists of a report of our analysis divided by each of the compliance elements and recommendations to strengthen and improve your compliance effectiveness. As a part the engagement, we also provide an educational session to discuss any findings and recommendations.
